July 2014 - Cancun & Tulum

We're back!  Another trip is upon us and we're so excited.  A little history: Andrew and I went to Tulum back in August of 2008.  We fell in love (with each other and with the small town - let's all say it together, "Awww").  Anyway, the goal on that trip was to get to know the Mayan Riviera and also to snorkel with whale sharks!  We booked the tour online and were super excited.  We got up at 5 a.m. the morning of the tour and drove our rental car to the designated pick-up spot in town.  We waited...and waited...and waited.  No tour.  An hour after the pick-up time we gave up and slumped back to the hotel for a morning nap.  After a few emails with the tour operator later that afternoon, we discovered the bus that was supposed to pick us up went to the wrong spot, so they thought we were no-shows.  The guy offered to take us the next day (our last day there), but we had a reservation to do some serious fishing and didn't want to give it up.  The resort's signature drink - the Tortuga - helped us deal with the disappointment.
Since that trip, my priority has been to get back and make up for the missed opportunity.  And here we are, just a few short weeks away from making that happen.  Join us in the adventure; I'll post as often as the spotty resort wifi will allow :)
