We arrived! Little Madeline was an absolute gem on the plane, we couldn't believe it. She slept for 90% of the entire trip. And the other 10% was spent awake while mom and dad changed diapers.
Upon arriving yesterday afternoon, we checked into the hotel for a quick rest and change of clothes, then went for a stroll in Barceloneta, a little neighborhood nearby. We stopped for dinner at Somorrostro and had some lovely tapas.

After a bit of a rough night adjusting to the time change, we awoke to a sunny day and hit the boardwalk. We bee-lined for Jai Ca, a well-known little seafood tapas place and weren't disappointed. We scarfed down patatas bravas, white anchovies in vinegar (our fave), more local shrimp and a plate of ham.

After lunch we decided to stroll around the gothic quarter. We got a bit lost, but it was beautiful.

Eventually we made our way to the Boqueria Market - one of the biggest in Barcelona - and looked at all the different stalls. Of course, there was a ton of ham. But there were also lots of fresh fruit stands, and even ones that sold fresh juices. We tried the passion fruit and it was super yummy. There were also a ton of fresh seafood stalls.
The day has been great so far and we're off to dinner at Enoteca soon. It will be Madeline's first michelin star of her life :) If I can manage the expected distended stomach after our meal, I'll post a few more pics. If not, we'll check back in tomorrow!
Enoteca was amazing! The best dish by far was one made solely of peas. Unfortch, it wasn't much to look at, so I didn't get a photo. In fact, I didn't get many photos at all, but here are a couple:
