Spain: Day 5

What a lovely day we awoke to!  The sun was shining and the wind had died down, so we thought it perfect timing to hit Parc de Montjuic.  It's a large park area with several museums and the colosseum where the 1982 Olympics were held.  We strolled around the Catalonya Museum of Modern Art and took in some ancient frescos, beautiful rotundas and even some random funky modern drawings and paintings.

On our way down the hill from the park, we stopped at a famous tiny tapas bar called Quimet y Quimet for a snack.  The food blew us away.  We tried leeks with roasted red pepper and caviar (not nice stuff, just average but still yummy), cured salmon, more boquerones, roasted red pepper with blue cheese and house-made potato chips.  Everything was so amazing.  Best tapas yet by far!

On the cab ride home little Mad had a serious blow out (good timing!), so we dealt with that and took a little nap and now we're about to head out for dinner.  No real plans for anything special, we are just going to wing it.  Wish us luck :)

Back again!  Dinner was great and we must have collected all your well wishes because we got into both tapas places we were hoping to!  The first was Bar Bitacora and we got octopus with potatoes, a lovely salad with kalamata olive dressing, grilled shrimp, and fried baby squid (the highlight).

The second place was Vaso de Oro and we squeezed ourselves next to the bar for a nightcap of boquerones and a plate of manchego (not pictured).

It was a great evening and we're planning another big day tomorrow.  Hopefully the Picasso Museum and the Sagrada Familia - the most famous of Gaudi's buildings that is still under construction!  Hope all is well back home.  Hugs and kisses.
